The founder of both Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby was
Meriwether Lewis Clark, Jr., the grandson of William Clark. The
Kentucky Derby Museum, located at Churchill Downs, Louisville,
Kentucky, chronicles the history.
The World’s Tallest Fountain, Gateway Geyser, soars to nearly
630-feet. The geyser's height mirrors that of St. Louis' famed
Gateway Arch and is located directly across the Mississippi River.
In the mid 1800's, Hermann,
Missouri
was home to the second largest winery in the United States and the
third largest in the world. This region has become known as
the wine capitol of Missouri.
