9, 1805 -(Camped on Lolo Creek, in the vicinity of Lolo, Missoula, County)
Traveler's Rest
" as our guide informed that we should leaved the river at this place and
the weather settled and fair I determined to halt the next day rest our
horses and take some scelestial Observations. We called this creek
Travellers rest*."
Travellers rest*- Explorers remained encamped until September 11.
September 10, 1805 - Traveler's Rest
Morning was fair and all hunters were sent out, while the remainder of
the party repaired their clothes. Toward evening Colter returned with 3
Indians : " 3 Tushapaw Indians who were in pursuit of 2 Snake Indians that
hade taken from the them 21 horses… Cp Lewis gave them a Steel & a little
Powder to make fire, after eating 2 of them proceeded on in pursute of their
horses, one of them Concluded to return with us."

11, 1805 - (Camped about one-half mile east of Woodman Creek Missoula
County, Montana)
Leaving their camp, Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery began one
of the most difficult and demanding legs of their journey:
"hills on the right high & ruged, the mountains on the left high &
covered with snow. nothing killed this evening."
