WELCOME TO THE COLUMBIA GORGE NATIONAL SCENIC AREA

The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area slices
80 miles through the Cascade Mountains, 
heavily forested and  waterfall- laced cliffs.

 On April 9, 1806, Lewis  describes the area:
" we passed several beautifull cascades which fell from a great
hight over the stupendious rocks" ...
" the hills have now become mountains high on each side are
rocky steep covered generally with fir and white cedar"...

This internationally renowned scenic area enjoys a protected status which will preserve its beauty for future generations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Along the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Highway (30), there are several falls including Latourell, Bridal Veil, Wahkeena, Horsetail, and Multnomah.
